Dear Blue Ridge Families,

On behalf of the staff at Blue Ridge School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you were able to relax, read some good books, and make special memories with your friends and families. I look forward to a wonderful new school year as we are “Wild about Learning” at Blue Ridge School!

Blue Ridge School is such a special place to learn and grow. Our students follow our school motto of, “We are BR! Be respectful, Be responsible and Be ready!” We believe positive reinforcement helps our students feel valued and safe which ensures the best possible learning environment.

I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I am proud of our school and have high expectations for each and every student. I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. Together with our dedicated staff, we will do our very best to ensure your child has the best year possible!

I hope you will consider joining our volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We need volunteers to help us with the following: teacher-led instructional support in the classrooms, reading with children, school wide events, student recognition events and outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers. If you are interested in helping, please let our front office know and we will be in touch with you.

To our students, I hope you all are playing outside, relaxing and reading tons of books. I have a special treat to give you on the first day of school if you can tell me about a book you read over the summer! It is going to be a great year of learning together!

I am here to make every effort to help your child reach his/her full potential. My door is always open. I welcome your conversations and input as we work together this school year. It is an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Ali Finley

Veronica Vital, Assistant Principal

Hi! My name is Veronica Vital. I am very excited to be a part of Blue Ridge Elementary. More importantly, I am delighted to be the Assistant Principal at such a wonderful place. It is going to be a fun year, filled with lots of learning and new adventures. I cannot wait to see what the year has in store for us.

I want to share a little about myself. I was born in Mexico City, Mexico and moved to the United States when I was 2 years old. My parents, Rosalina and Alvaro decided to move to the United States to give us a better quality of life. I was raised in Georgia, and I am the second oldest of six. I have two sisters, Fatima and Becky, and three brothers, David, Alvaro, and Jesus.

I graduated from Murray County Schools. I attend Dalton State College where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I received my master’s degree at Georgia Southern University. I began teaching in 2011 with Dalton Public Schools. I started teaching Pre-Kindergarten, then taught Kindergarten, First grade, and later became an ESOL teacher for grades 3rd-5th. Teaching has always been my passion since I was a little girl. I remember always helping my siblings do homework and teaching them how to speak English.

I am married to my amazing husband, Alejandro Vital, who is a Dalton business owner. I have a stepson who graduated from Dalton High School. My husband and I love to travel and to spend time with family. We love going to Mexico over the holidays to see our family.

There is so much that I am looking forward to this year. This is going to be an AMAZING year!
