Classified Staff of the Year, Tracy Hopkins

Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce Traci Hopkins as The Dalton Academy's Classified Staff of the Year. Hopkins, who has been a school nurse since 2006, is celebrated for her unwavering commitment to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of students and staff. This marks another recognition in her distinguished career, having previously been named Classified Staff of the Year at Blue Ridge Elementary in 2015-2016 and Morris Innovative High School in 2020-2021.

Hopkins' contributions go far beyond her nursing duties. She has a profound ability to forge lasting relationships with students and their families, serving as both a caregiver and mentor. Reflecting on her career, Hopkins shared, "Since I became a school nurse in 2006, I have maintained meaningful relationships with many of my former students. An example is when a student I first met in third grade visited TDA to give me a Christmas gift years later. We reconnected when he attended MIHS; his gesture touched me deeply. This long-term engagement shows my dedication and the positive, lasting impact I have on my students' lives."

Her dedication extends into the broader Dalton community. She collaborates with organizations such as the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, coordinates CPR training for Dalton Public Schools staff, and arranges critical healthcare resources, including free vision screenings for students. Earlier this year, her partnership with the Noon Lions Club of Dalton enabled 122 students to receive free vision screenings, with 54 referred for follow-up care at no cost.

Hopkins' involvement also includes mentoring aspiring healthcare professionals, providing basic first aid and CPR training, and guiding students in need toward community resources. "It brings me pride to see former students pursuing careers in healthcare," Hopkins said. "Recently, I encountered a former student who is now an ER nurse. Her decision to follow a path in healthcare demonstrates the influence and inspiration I provide to students."

Beyond her professional achievements, Hopkins emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive school environment. "Every morning, I pray for God’s blessings and guidance as I drive to work, asking Him to watch over us at The Dalton Academy and use me to bless someone daily," she shared. This heartfelt approach reflects her deep personal commitment to the school community.

Hopkins’ innovative contributions, unwavering compassion, and commitment to excellence exemplify the values of Dalton Public Schools. She continues to inspire students, families, and colleagues alike, making a lasting impact on the community she serves.
