Dalton, GA ā Dalton Public Schools will host a special celebration honoring Board of Education member Matt Evans as he concludes his distinguished service on the Dalton Board of Education.
The celebration will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, between the work session and the regular board meeting, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the City Park School Auditorium, located at 405 School Street, Dalton, GA 30720.
Evansā final meeting as a member of the Dalton Board of Education will take place on December 8, marking the conclusion of his impactful tenure. His official departure from the board will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Evans began his first term on the Dalton Board of Education in January 2018 and has served as Board Chair since 2019. Throughout his time on the board, Evans has been an advocate for educational excellence, student achievement, and community engagement. His leadership and collaborative spirit have contributed to the continued success and innovation of Dalton Public Schools.
Beyond his service to the district, Evans is the founding and lead pastor of Rock Bridge Community Church, a multi-site church with locations in five communities across Northwest Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and completed Navy Nuclear Power School training. While serving on active duty, he was a surface warfare officer on two different warships. Evans also holds a Masterās degree in global leadership.
A lifelong Daltonian, Evans and his wife, Beth, both graduated from Dalton High School in 1993. Their son Eyasu graduated from Dalton High School in 2025, and their younger son, Abreham, is a current student in Dalton Public Schools.
