Classroom Spotlight: Before break, Madyson Evans immersed her students in history through an engaging VR experience in the media center! Students explored a simulation of the Civil War and surrounding historical events, bringing the past to life through innovative technology and hands-on learning.

Kinser serves as an ESS paraprofessional at Roan School, where she supports students in kindergarten through second grade. Before break, the Dalton High School Boys Basketball Team visited Westwood to read with their students and spend time connecting with them during lunch. From storytime to smiles, it was a wonderful opportunity for our students to enjoy reading and build relationships with great role models. Thank you to our DHS athletes for making the day so special!

DPS Educator Earns Prestigious Honors with Regional Choir
Weāre proud to celebrate Dalton Junior High School and The Dalton Academy chorus and piano teacher Hannah Carter Crosa, who performs with the regionally recognized treble choir Luxārecently selected for two major performance honors this season!
From presenting at the GMEA Conference in Athens to being chosen as one of only 13 choirs to perform at the ACDA Southeastern Conference, Lux continues to shine, and weāre thrilled to have one of our own among its talented members.

Classroom Spotlight: At Hammond Creek Middle School, Roschelle Bautista is bringing history to life! Her students recently explored the journey of Sacajawea and Lewis and Clark through the SAVVAS curriculum, building insight by strengthening comprehension and vocabulary skills. Engaging discussions and thoughtful learning were on full display as students deepened their understanding of this important moment in history.
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Faviola PeƱa, sixth-grade social studies teacher at Hammond Creek Middle School, has been named their 2024ā2025 Teacher of the Year.
PeƱa, a Dalton native and former Dalton Public Schools student, has been an educator with the district since 2019. She began her career at Morris Innovative High School before joining Hammond Creek Middle School, where she currently teaches sixth-grade social studies.

Holiday Joy with Our Little Cats! āØš
Our Little Cats students have been busy celebrating the holiday season through stories, art, and meaningful conversations! From learning how arctic animals prepare for winter to exploring Christmas traditions from around the world, students enjoyed a week full of discovery and cheer. The celebration wrapped up with a read-aloud of Olivia Helps with Christmas, a creative art activity, festive fellowship, and even a special visit from the North Poleācomplete with a keepsake ornament for each student.
It was a joyful way to close out the season and create lasting memories for our Little Cats! ā¤ļø

Classroom Spotlight: At Blue Ridge School, Gray Weldon recently led students in a close reading of "The Carp" in SAVVAS. Students looked back through the text to find key details, use context clues, and explore literary structureāall while learning about a Japanese boyās journey to becoming a painter.
City Hall was filled with holiday spirit yesterday thanks to the Westwood School Chorus. A big thank you to the students and teachers who helped spread Christmas cheer throughout Dalton!
