Making Literacy Count in Math

Our Math PLC continues to make time for teachers to learn from one another!

This week, Mrs. Jennifer Woodson led our team in exploring ways to incorporate more reading and writing into the math classroom. Mrs. Woodson shared simple, engaging strategies for using writing as a warm-up, including ideas like “Math Meme Monday” and “Theorem Thursday,” where students respond to short prompts as they enter the classroom.

These strategies help us continue our district-wide focus on literacy by giving students more opportunities to read, write, explain, and communicate their mathematical thinking. Math is more than finding the answer, it’s being able to communicate the thinking that gets you there! ✏️➗📚

Making Waves from the Start!

🌊 Our 8th grade scientists have explored wave types using slinkies and ropes. They participated in a Wave Design Challenge where they created their own waves, and compared their waves with partners.

⛳ It was a great night on the course for Dalton Middle Golf!

The boys and girls teams took on Cass and Woodland in last night’s match, with both teams battling hard from start to finish. The boys came away with the win, while the girls earned a strong 2nd-place finish!

Be sure to congratulate our golfers when you see them!
