
Dalton High School Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Dalton High School is proud to announce that two of its seniors, CenCen Wan and Hope Hambrock, have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recently revealed the names of more than 16,000 semifinalists in the prestigious competition, now in its 70th year. Wan and Hambrock now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million, which will be awarded in the spring of 2025.

Several of our administrators from Dalton Junior High School and The Dalton Academy proudly represented as the DPS CEO Trike Race Team during the United Way of Northwest Georgia's 2024 campaign kickoff at Burr Park.
With the theme "Let the Games Begin!" our team helped launch the festivities in style. United Way agencies play a vital role in supporting DPS students and families, and we are excited to contribute to their 2024 campaign goal through our own internal efforts. We are proud to stand behind such an important cause in our community!





Dalton Reads! representatives made an exciting appearance at The Dalton Academy's open house, giving out free books to students and families. Dalton Reads! is a powerful new literacy initiative at Dalton Public Schools, dedicated to fostering a culture of reading excellence and empowering every student to unlock their full potential through the joy of reading.

The Dalton Academy hosted a fun and successful open house event yesterday, bringing together students, families, and the community to celebrate and explore all that this unique high school has to offer.
Attendees learned more about the school’s programs and enjoyed the chance to connect with one another. This open house showcased the strong community spirit that makes The Dalton Academy such a special place!

City Park School had a blast celebrating fReEDom Day! What better way to honor so many special occasions than with a fun-filled assembly?
Students marked Dot Day, Constitution Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, and kicked off Dalton High School's Homecoming. They sang patriotic songs, cheered as their teachers tried their luck at field goal kicks, and celebrated Hispanic heritage with lively music.
A special thank you goes out to Roger Melendrez, former City Park student, Marine, and local business owner, for leading the pledge and always setting a great example for students. Don’t miss the Dot Day display in the photos!





Westwood School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a special hands-on lesson in Mrs. Montijo and Mrs. Holmes' 3rd grade classes. Mrs. Paniagua and her mom led the activity, teaching students how to make tortillas from scratch. The students had fun making their own tortillas and enjoyed tasting their creations, gaining a delicious and memorable connection to Hispanic culture.

Although recess was rained out, Brookwood's PTO brought the sunshine indoors by surprising students with popsicles today!

Today, students across Dalton Public Schools are celebrating Constitution Day, honoring the historical significance of the U.S. Constitution.
At Hammond Creek Middle School, students and staff embraced the occasion by wearing red, white, and blue, proudly showcasing their patriotism. Constitution Day is a time for all students to reflect on the freedoms and rights established by this foundational document, fostering a deeper understanding of its impact on American democracy.
Through lessons and activities, students are reminded of the importance of citizenship and civic responsibility.

Roan School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a fantastic International Latino Day!
Students from all backgrounds dazzled in traditional attire from their native countries.
The highlight of the day was a parade of nations, led by the Dual Language Instruction classes, turning the playground into a vibrant showcase of global cultures.

Today is international dot day! Students from our elementary schools are spending the day celebrating creativity, courage and collaboration.
Here’s a glimpse inside Mrs. Harrison’s 5th grade challenge class and Mrs. Walker’s kindergarten art class at Westwood School! The 5th graders took on Dot Day-themed challenge stations, while the kindergarteners painted frames and created art to go inside them.
International Dot Day encourages creativity and self-expression, giving students the chance to connect, collaborate, and celebrate their artistic potential.





Families recently enjoyed the Little Cats Open House, where Christina Rand from GPB Education led hands-on Social and Emotional Learning activities using PBS Kids resources.
Along with these activities, families received take-home materials to continue learning at home. The event fostered collaboration between Dalton Public Schools and GPB, providing parents with tools to support their children's academic growth.
We are grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to engage and support families in their children's education.

Dalton High School's HoPe (Hispanic Organization for Promoting Education) chapter showed their support for local first responders at the Battle of the Badges charity softball game. The students made posters and brought Gatorades for the participating first responders, building meaningful connections along the way. It was a special experience for everyone involved. Dalton Public Schools Students Named All-State Thespians
Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Hayden Poe and Kinsley Stephens, two exceptional students from Dalton High School, have been selected as All-State Thespians. They will represent our district at the Georgia Thespian Conference in February.
